Lucknow: A woman who was assured of round-the-clock security by none other than Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after an gangrape acid attack in March this year, suffering another acid attack and has been hospitalised in a serious condition.
As per PTI, yesterday, while the was going to take water from a hand pump at her hostel at Aliganj area, some unidentified people hurled acid at her that caused her burn injuries on the right side of her face and shoulder.
A police official told PTI after the inmates heard the woman screaming, they rushed her to a nearby hospital.
The inmates tried to trace the culprits but they had fled from the by then.
The victim’s condition is said to be critical and she is not in a position to give evidence to police.
As per the report, the victim has previously suffered four attacks on her in the last nine years.
<h1>Suffered series of attacks</h1>
The woman was first gang raped in 2008 over a property dispute. Four years later in 2012, she faced a knife attack by some people.
In 2013, she was hurled acid by few unidentified assailants. In December last year, some people threatened to rape her daughter as well.
On March 23 this year, she was forced to drink acid on the Ganga-Gomti Express train when it was plying between Allahabad and Lucknow.
Chief Minister Adityanath had met the victim at the hospital then and assured her security. However, despite an assurance from the government, the ordeal for the woman continued.
The latest attack on the woman has ignited widespread condemnation where the people are blaming the government for the complete failure of law and order situation in the state.
The victim is a resident of Rae Bareli and works in a cafe run by acid attack survivors in Lucknow. She lives in the hostel at Aliganj where she by attacked by the assailants.
