Beijing: Heavy rains Hits China, Dozens of people are killed & other 20 are reported missing as per Chinese authorities. Heavy rains continue to pummel at 11 Chinese provinces causing a trail of destruction, flooding towns and cutting off power supply.
According to an official report, Rain related mishaps have killed at least 56 people.
A total of 27,000 houses collapsed whereas floods, landslides & hailstorms have damaged at least 37,000 others. Due to heavy rains that have been taking place since 29 June in Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, as per the report.
It is a major Catastrophic event
The government has allocated USD 270 million to 20 provinces for the disaster relief, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
The ministry has launched a rescue operation. The Ministry of Civil Affairs and China National Commission for Disaster Reduction have sent teams and materials to assist the disaster-hit areas.
Moreover, 3,000 armed police are sent to the flood-fighting front line in Hunan.
