Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Roopa Ganguly stirred a controversy. As she slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the law and order situation in the state.
Ganguly was speaking at an event in West Bengal. When she dared her fellow politicians to send their daughters and wives to survive in Bengal for 15 days without being getting raped.
“I dare all the parties, the ones who keep flattering the West Bengal Government and the Congress, to send their daughters, sisters-in-law, wives to Bengal, without taking any hospitality from Mamata Banerjee. If they are able to survive there for 15 days without getting raped, then tell me,’ Ganguly was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Reacting to her statement, Trinamool leader Sovandeb Chattopadhyay said that – “Roopa should say how many times she has been raped in Bengal.”
West Bengal seems to have become the centre of chaos and violence, with an agitation going on in Darjeeling over demand for a separate statehood and the recent violence in Basirhat over a ‘controversial’ Facebook post, shared by a teenager.
