Lucknow: Barely 24 hours after taking oath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath came into action on Monday and given the directive to Nagar Nigam Authorities to seal two slaughter houses in Allahabad.
As per the media report, the Nigam authorities have sealed two slaughterhouses running in Atala and Naini areas and are planning to seal another one that has been running in Rambag.
In its election manifesto, the BJP had vowed to shut illegal slaughter houses in the state.
“Instead of blood of cattle, there will be streams of milk and ghee flowing throughout the state,” BJP president Amit Shah had said at a rally in Maharajganj.
Soon after the BJP’s thumping victory state, the BJP president had assured that next state government in Uttar Pradesh will close all slaughter houses.
Expectedly, the BJP poll promise to axe all legal as well illegal such shops had caused panic among big slaughterhouses across Uttar Pradesh.
It is to be noted that Uttar Pradesh is one of the top buffalo meat-producing states in the country. As per the state’s Animal Husbandry Department, the state produced at least 7,515.14 lakh kg of buffalo meat in 2014-15.
Another report in The New Indian Express suggests that there are around 130 legal slaughterhouses in Uttar Pradesh. However, there are a number of illegal abattoirs in western Uttar Pradesh too.
