Chennai: The Sri Lankan Navy on Saturday apprehended eight more fishermen from southern coastal state of Tamil Nadu and seized their boat.
The arrests were made near Delft Island.
As per reports, the arrested fishermen have been taken by the Lankan officers to the Kankesanthurai Naval camp for further investigation.
On July 16th. four Indian fishermen were arrested for allegedly poaching in the Colombo territorial waters.
As per Lankan Navy, the Fast Attack Craft of the Northern Naval Command of Colombo arrested the fishermen about nine Nm northwest of Kovilan.
The fishermen were taken to the SLNS Elara, naval base and handed over to the Jaffna Assistant Fisheries Director for further legal action, ANI reported.
